Patty Benson About Patty Benson. She was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley. The Los Angeles area of California. However, she has since transplanted her roots in Greensboro, North Carolina. A move recounted in the titled track of her debut CD 2,666 Miles. She has had the opportunity to perform with Roy Roberts, Skeeter Brandon, Chick Willis, the late JJ Jones, John Lee Hooker and Lowell Fulson's protege Finis Tasby. Patty Benson was governing the stage. If titles for blues singers were given freely, she would be known as the “Marquis of the Blues.” Her call-and-response energy, along with a willingness to enter the song through characterization makes EVERYONE feel her lyrics, feel her pain… feel her joy. Deb HemingwayMetro Spirit Oct 1, 2008 Patty Benson, “Blues Goddess, rocked the house at the Woman in Blues Festival." Dave Harrison BluzNdaBlood February 2008 "Patty Benson sings that she moved 2,666 Miles, to forget about a man Good for us-she connected with artist/impresario Roy Roberts who produced this fine Soul Blues disc." Tom Hyslop Blues Revue Aug/Sept 2003 "A new Soul Diva. Patty Benson list a few of her influences, but doesn't try to emulate them. She produces a sound that's all her own. An auspicious debut from this fine new artist. I'll be looking forward to hearing more from her in the future." Alan Shuttro Blues Wax Dec 2002 "Patty Benson doesn't just sing the blues-she whispers, cries and even belts out the blues. Her vocals ring with confidence and emotion. She's sultry and bold as she spills out her lyrics on each and every song." http://www.myspace.com/pattybenson
